Written and directed by Franck Khalfoun, “Amityville: The Awakening” is scheduled to hit American movie theaters June 30 2017.
Even though the Khalfoun directed film is officially listed as being the tenth instalment in the main Amityville franchise, it should be noted it is the nineteenth production overall to revolve around happenings taking place in and around the now infamous haunted house.
This latest instalment of the long running franchise stars Bella Thorne, Cameron Monaghan, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Thomas Mann, Jennifer Morrison and Kurtwood Smith. The film also features appearances by Taylor Spreitler and Cleopatra Coleman.
The premise of “Amityville: The Awakening” revolves around Belle (Thorne), her little sister Juliet (Grace) and her comatose twin brother James (Monaghan).
Completely unaware of the property’s history, to save money to pay for James’ medical expenses, the family move into a new house with their single mother Joan.
Unsurprising, not long after taking up residence in their new abode, a strange phenomenon begins to occur in the house. James’ miraculous recovery and Belle increasingly horrific nightmares are somehow connected.
It doesn’t take Belle long to realise the family has moved into the infamous Amityville house.
