When I think restaurant quality dishes, the last place I would have thought of acquiring the ingredients is a ferry snack bar. In this eighth season episode of “Top Chef,” the remaining cheftestants were tasked with making dishes using ingredients found in a ferry snack bar, during a trip from Manhattan to Ellis Island.

Even though each chef made a concerted effort to create a dish worthy of serving in a fine dining environment, it was Carla (Orange & Papaya Salad with Carrot & Rosemary Juice) that produced the winning dish.

During the eighth season, chefs faced some of the most difficult challenges in the history of the culinary show.

In the elimination challenge, the chefs had to create a dish inspired by their ancestry and prepare a meal for one of their family members and the judges. The winning chef, Antonia (braised veal, rapini leaf & fava bean risotto), not only secured a spot in the Final Four, she also received a Toyota Highlander Hybrid.

No one is eliminated.
