When I first saw this episode, I thought it impossible to create a restaurant quality dish in under ten minutes.

In a first for the culinary show, “Top Chef” head judge Tom Colicchio took to the kitchen and set the tone for the episode quickfire challenge. Colicchio, in preparing a fish in an amazing 8 minutes and 37 seconds, proved a professional chef should have the ability to achieve extraordinary things.

Colicchio being able to create a dish in 8 minutes and 37 seconds was the basis for the episode quickfire challenge.

The winner of the quickfire challenge, Mike, after preparing a pan-roasted branzino with black olive and caper stew for the judges, received a new Toyota Prius.

The elimination challenge was epic. After taking over a restaurant in New York’s Chinatown, the chefs were tasked with working as a team to serve the locals with dim sum.

In the challenge, Dale T. prepared sweet sticky rice with Chinese bacon wrapped in a banana leaf. This was the winning dish.

Unfortunately for Casey (Chinese chicken feet and scallion pancake), her dish did not satisfy the judges. Consequently, she was the latest chef eliminated from the competition.
