With a majority of the cast being African American, the producer’s intent is to highlight the racial realities that face Americans daily. Each episode, with meaningful heartfelt stories, brings to the small screen a realistic portrayal of what it is that challenges these United States.
While “Black Lightening” is purported set in a different universe to established CW series “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Legends of Tomorrow” and “Supergirl,” that has not prevented the latter of the productions from making crossover episodes with the other three series.
Even though “Arrow-verse” shows are essentially set in different universes, this has not stopped Barry Allen / The Flash (Grant Gustin) appearing in “Supergirl” or Kara Danvers / Supergirl / Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) appearing in episodes of “The Flash” or the now annual multi-series crossover events.
Fans of the “Arrow-verse” are still holding out hope for crossover episodes between “Black Lightening” and the other four DC Comics based shows.
Part of me wants to see how Williams’ character reacts to Oliver Queen / Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) or the existence of metahumans such as Barry Allen / The Flash, Caitlin Snow / Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco Ramon / Vibe (Carlos Valdes).
It would also be interesting to see whether Peter Gambi (James Remar) accepts design input from Cisco. With significant technological knowledge, Cisco is bound to offer advice on how to best upgrade the Black Lightening suit.
