Tom Amandes (1959-)

Currently known for being Felicity Smoak’s dad, Noah Kuttler, on the Greg BerlantiMarc Guggenheim / Andrew Kreisberg co-created DC Comics based television series “Arrow,” Tom Amandes has been working in front of the camera as a credited actor since the late 1980s when he appeared in a 1987 episode of the adventure drama “Sable.”

Having portrayed a diverse string of characters during the past 31 years, Amandes has worked in numerous genres inclusive of but not limited to comedy and drama.

Born in Richmond, Illinois on 9 March 1959, having begun acting at an early age, Amandes was a child actor. He starred in numerous school productions. After graduating from Crystal Lake Central High School, Amandes attended DePaul University’s Goodman School of Drama. In 1981, having graduated from acting school, the actor looked to the Chicago stage for an apprenticeship.

After arriving in the Windy City, Amandes appeared in numerous productions staged at both the Court Theatre and the Body Politic Theatre.

With some of the actor’s most memorable characters being Eliot Ness in the 1990s television series “The Untouchables,” Steve Rutledge in the short lived TV series “The Pursuit of Happiness” and Commander John Flagler in three episodes of the long running military legal drama “JAG,” Amandes is an actor that has proven himself time and again a competent producer of quality work.

Do you recall the Berlanti created drama “Everwood”? Yes, it is the same Berlanti that co-created “Arrow.” Between 2002 and 2006, Amandes played Dr. Harold Abbott on the show. From what most people will recall, this character was popular with viewers.

More recently, the actor has appeared in the television series “The Magicians” as Alice Quinn’s father Daniel Quinn.

He is currently working on the yet-to-be-released Sam Taylor-Johnson directed drama “A Million Little Pieces.” While information on this production was last updated at the beginning of Feb. 2018, there have not been any additional details indicating exactly when it will be released.
